About the program
More Than Words is a program that provides parents of young children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or social communication difficulties with practical tools to help their children communicate. Suitable for parents with children ages 5 and under, you will receive practical strategies and tools to support your little learners to expand their communication. The program aims to:
Improve back-and-fourth social interactions
Enhance communication skills
Advance play with toys
Improve understanding of language

How to turn everyday activities into opportunities for learning to communicate
How to help your child understand what you say
How to develop your child’s play skills

Program details
Over 12 weeks, you will participate in the following:
1 x pre-program consultation with our lead speech pathologist
8 x training group sessions of up to eight parents
3 x individual video feedback sessions personalised with your speech pathologist

Cued Articulation for sound development (online)
This in person 6-hour workshop is designed to teach parents and teachers techniques to support an understand of sound structure of language for literacy development in children. Initially devised by Speech Pathologist Jane Passy, then delivered by Speech Pathologist Helen Bathom, and will now be delivered by our in house Speech Pathologist, Freeda Thong.
We Thinkers! Social Thinking
This is a 6-week in person workshop helping children to build foundational social competencies and essential life skills through stories, lessons and play activities in a group environment. It aims to help kids better understand themselves and others, develop self-awareness, perspective taking, social problem solving and support student’s social emotional learning.
Does my child need a Speech Pathologist?
We are offering a 30-minute education sessions in kindergartens, schools or other community settings. This free workshop aims to raise awareness on areas a speech pathologist can support, developmental communication milestones, and to provide some information on strategies to support your little ones.
